Dusk Til Dawn Adelaide Hills Chardonnay 2017 95 Points Made from clones 95, 277 and a third (118) I haven’t seen elsewhere. The fruit has intensity and complexity – and obviously came from a good vineyard site – with grapefruit and white peach to the fore.

Z Force McLaren Vale Shiraz 2016 95 Points SOLD OUT Includes 10% petit sirah (aka durif); matured in French and American oak (30% new) for 18 months. An impressive interpretation of McLaren Vale shiraz with a highly textured palate: fine-ribbed at first, then akin to a tannin smoothie (no sugar) on the finish and aftertaste. More usual is the black chocolate and blackberry backdrop.

Hills Are Alive Adelaide Hills Shiraz 2017 94 Points 38 yo vines are at their peak in terms of yield and quality. This wine has vibrancy, the crimson colour an early harbinger of freshness and the cool vintage at work. If it has four legs, this will suit any carnivore’s choice.

Blackberry Patch Fleurieu Cabernet 2017 94 Points 95% cabernet sauvignon, 5% tempranillo; destemmed and crushed, open-fermented, matured for 10–12 months in French oak (10% new). Disciplined winemaking minimises cost but highlights fruit quality in a medium-bodied wine with fresh cassis fruit and savoury accoutrements.
